Originally from Naples, FL, and now based in Lexington, KY, indie artist Logan Taylor has been making music since childhood. She is currently preparing for the release of her debut album, and a tour is also in the planning stages. We talked with her to hear more about her music.
What inspires your songwriting and who are some of your biggest musical influences?
Logan: My songs are heavily inspired by my life, but I draw inspiration from a lot of places. It can be fun to take something you've experienced and embellish it or change some aspects to benefit the song.
I grew up listening to all kinds of music, but my biggest influences are Stevie Nicks and Joni Mitchell. I'm also a big fan of Lana Del Rey. Born To Die came out not long before I started writing this album. That was definitely an influence.
How has your music evolved over the years?
Logan: When I first started writing my songs were very diaristic. Over the years I've started to write more from other perspectives. I've also started to experiment more with musical styles. Most of my early songs would be considered pop, but my more recent songs incorporate elements of folk, rock, blues, and country.
What has been your biggest challenge so far as an artist?
Logan: Finding the means to record and promote this album was a real challenge. I finished writing it back in 2018, but at the time I was a broke college student. It's taken me this long to make this happen.
How did the experience of recording your debut album differ from expectations?
Logan: I knew how I wanted the album to sound going into it. I thought I was going to have to really push for what I wanted, but it ended up being a pretty seamless experience. My producer brought a lot of great ideas to the table, but he also supported my vision and always gave me the final say.
What are a few of your interests or hobbies outside of music?
Logan: Work and music take up most of my time, but when I'm not doing those things I like to read. I also enjoy cooking and taking walks to the park near my apartment.

What are some of your goals for the near future?
Logan: My main goal is to grow my following so I can play larger shows and have more touring opportunities. My first single, "White Wolf," has done really well, so I'm optimistic!
Is there anything else that you want our audience to know?
Logan: My new single, "Some Other Woman," is out now!
